The story
This piece was built on commission for a private collector, who was inspired by my Goliath sculpture.
The sculpture is activated by a motion sensor, and has since been installed out doors.
Every element was found — scrap yards, second-hand stores, dumpsters — then cleaned, stripped, sorted and rebuilt. Found aluminum is TIG-welded and sanded seamless; nothing is cast. The electronics are salvaged from consumer devices, repaired and rewired so the piece does something when you touch it.
Parts list
Materials
Everything in this piece had a previous life. Nemo’s own inventory, in his words.
Outboard boat motor, railing sections, vacuum cleaners, beer kegs, light fixtures, “hip-shaking machine”, sauce pans, ice scoops, electric drills and saws, pepper grinder, cream pitchers, springs, volt meter, gear motor, stock aluminum, and on, and on, and on….
